Monty Don on the Joe Gardener Podcast!

I am so excited to announce that Monty Don, the British garden guru and host of the BBC’s “Gardener’s World” program, will be a very special guest on the Joe Gardener podcast today!

I spoke with my friend, Joe Lamp’l, last week. He explained that today’s podcast is the episode 200. Wow! He and his team felt they should do something really special to mark this milestone. Joe has wanted to have Monty on the show for a very long time now but their two schedules just didn’t mesh.

Fortunately, he tried once again and they recorded the podcast episode together. I am so excited about this because I think the world of Monty Don.

Now, if you’re sitting there wondering who I’m talking about, permit me to explain. Monty has been the host of “Gardener’s World” since 2003. This program has a very long history, having begun in 1968. This marvelous program airs in the U.K. on Friday nights — during prime time, I might add — between March and October. Gardening is so popular in the U.K. and everyone adores “Gardener’s World!”

OK, back to Monty Don. Why do I think so highly of him? Well, his enthusiasm for gardening is infectious. He is very eloquent about the elements of gardening that we all find so appealing. He’s not afraid to get his hands dirty: he’s frequently seen during the programs digging in the dirt, pruning plants, setting out seedlings or planting seeds. He is happy to share what he knows with all of us.

I am able to watch each week’s episode of “Gardener’s World” through my subscription to Britbox. And yes, I subscribe to “Gardener’s World” magazine! Yes, I’m all about the English garden and their methods.

I truly hope that I will someday have the opportunity to meet Monty because he is a very special human being who has had such a positive impact on gardeners around the world.
