Aug. 13, 2026 _ Hi, everyone. Things have been pretty crazy around here in the past week and a half, due to the horrific Spokane wildfires. Bill and I are still doing OK, although we’re feeling awful for all of the folks who have lost so much. Air quality continues to be a big issue here and every time we get some winds, it makes me very nervous.
However, I do have some good news. First of all, most folks have been allowed to go back to their neighborhoods, although hundreds of homes were burned down. But it is a start. I love seeing how our community comes together to help people get through these tough times. Second, I was able to shoot a video for this week, while the air quality was a bit better. It’s about various things we should do during the month of August. Here’s a link to it: August Garden Tasks. This is the topic I had intended to cover last week but conditions were too awful to be outside.
Remember to visit the Grow Vegetables section that I created for my website. It is absolutely packed with useful information and tips on all of the most commonly grown crops. Click on the link, above or look for it in the menu bar on any page.
Be sure to check out my Amazon store for the gardening products I use and recommend so you’ll have a great garden season. The 3 books I’ve written are in there, under the “Susan’s Books” category. I receive a small commission but that won’t impact the price you pay.
