Do you love birds? The Great Backyard Bird Count is coming up in just a few days and is a great way to log your bird sightings while enjoying being out in nature.

The Great Backyard Bird Count takes place from Feb. 12 to 15, 2021 and it is so easy to participate! All you have to do is count the birds you spot in 15 minutes or more, on one day or multiple days during the time frame, list them on an app or their website, and that’s that.

To learn how to participate, and how to log your findings, go to The Great Backyard Bird Count website. They have all sorts of helpful information. They also love it when you share the photographs you’ve taken of birds.

This event first took place in 1998 as a citizen-science project. This is a way to show your love of birds while contributing to a global database that tracks bird populations. You can participate in your backyard, in wildlife refuges, or in other natural areas.

You can find everything you need to know at the link above. I hope you’ll participate and I would love to hear if you spotted a new-to-you bird species!
