Susan Mulvihill is Recipient of 2019 Media Award

Media AwardI have some happy news to share with you! I just found out that I have received the 2019 Media Award from the Washington State Master Gardener Foundation. I am stunned! I didn’t even know I’d been nominated. Here is the press release from the Master Gardener Foundation of Spokane County:

CONGRATULATIONS TO SUSAN MULVIHILL!

Susan Mulvihill is the recipient of the 2019 Media Award by the Master Gardener Foundation of Washington State. The Washington State Master Gardener Foundation stated in the award letter, that Susan is recognized for her “many contributions to the coverage of gardening topics, education, and demonstrations that emphasize the WSU Extension MG program.”

Susan’s contributions to gardening education, spanning several decades, ranging from Master Gardener publications, newspaper articles, a gardening website, videos, interviews, teaching, and radio and TV appearances.

A well-respected garden expert in the Inland Northwest, she has devoted 17 years to the Master Gardener Program as a volunteer. She has written a weekly newspaper column for the Sunday edition of The Spokesman-Review for over 14 years. Her website, Susansinthegarden.com, has just surpassed one million visits. She also reaches gardeners via Facebook and Instagram, and her very popular YouTube videos.

Along with Pat Munts, she co-authored the book, Northwest Gardener’s Handbook (Quarto Publishing Group, 2014) which is one of the top 10 Pacific Northwest region gardening booksellers on Amazon. The Spokane County Master Gardener Program and the Master Gardener Foundation of Spokane congratulate Susan on this well-deserved recognition.
