Video: July Vegetable Garden Tour (2026)

It’s time for my monthly vegetable garden tour. I almost thought I wouldn’t be able to do it. Why? Well, it’s been so hot and smoky here in Spokane, Wash. for the past 10 days. Fortunately, I got the job done in the early morning on a less smoky day. Whew!

If you’re new to my videos, I do a garden tour once a month throughout the garden season. It’s a great way to show you how our garden is doing and how vegetable crops typically grow.

What’s in this video?

• A bed-by-bed tour of everything growing in our garden
• Tips on growing certain vegetable crops
• Vegetable varieties that I’m particularly pleased with
• Insights into why certain plants can struggle
• Problems we’re encountering this season. One of the biggest is the lack of rain. Spokane is in Eastern Washington state and we’re experiencing severe drought conditions. It’s so frustrating.

Now, before I proceed with the vegetable garden tour, I wanted to give you a heads-up about something. Well, two things actually!

First of all, I’m a bit late on posting this video due to computer problems. We knew it was time to buy a new PC, which we did… only to discover it was defective. After a whole bunch of work, I might add. So that was a big setback, time-wise.

Secondly, this video is (in theory) about 25 minutes long. That’s what I uploaded to YouTube. Yet, they keep shortening it to about 22 minutes. I’ve tried fixing this repeatedly, and it’s just not “fixable.” It’s definitely a YouTube problem. That has eaten up a bunch of my time. I have no idea what’s going on. I’ve shot over 675 videos, with many being longer than 20 minutes, yet this has never happened before.
