Video: 4 Excellent Vegetable Plant Supports

This is our squash arbor.

This week’s video is now live and it’s all about plant supports for your vegetable crops. In it, I discuss why it’s so important to provide support for certain types of vegetables.

For example, tomato plants will stay healthier and be more productive when you give them support. If the leaves aren’t in contact with the soil, they’re less likely to be exposed to disease pathogens. If the tomatoes are up off the ground, they will ripen more easily.

You’ll also find that many types of plant supports will make it easier for you, the gardener, to harvest them. I love growing our pole beans on an arbor and growing winter squash up a wire grid.

So you can see that this video will help you be more successful. I love sharing gardening tips because I want everyone to have a great garden! And plant supports are a perfect place to start.

Last year, I wrote a garden column about vertical gardening. Here’s a link to it on my website.
