Susan’s New Book: The Vegetable Garden Pest Handbook

Vegetable Garden Pest Handbook, asparagus beetle

Vegetable Garden Pest HandbookI have exciting news to share with you! I have written a new book, The Vegetable Garden Pest Handbook, which will be published by Cool Springs Press in April 2021.

It’s been hard keeping this a secret but now that it’s up on Amazon (*) for pre-orders, I can finally spill the beans.

Do you deal with insects in your garden? Of course you do! It wouldn’t be a healthy garden if you didn’t have both the good insects and the bad ones. But it’s always hard knowing what to do about the troublesome pests, let alone identifying the critter in the first place.

This book contains the information I’ve learned over many, many years that I know will help you be successful at growing a garden. And even if you’re not growing veggies, there are many insects in it that also plague our ornamental plants.

But what I really want to share with you is the fact that the book is filled with research-based organic methods for dealing with these pests. I’ve been giving out a lot of this information in my videos, during speaking engagements, and when answering readers’ questions, but now all of this information is together in one place! My goal was to write the book in a way that is easy to understand and give solutions that are doable.

What’s in the book?

  1. Profiles of the most commonly-seen vegetable pests: they include descriptions, life cycles, vegetable crops each pest can wreak havoc with, photographs of their different stages of growth plus pictures of what their damage looks like, and a list of organic controls that work.
  2. The most important information you need on how to keep your plants healthy and thriving so they are able to avoid or withstand insect damage.
  3. Descriptions of the organic controls listed in the pest profiles so you can make the best choice and know how to use them.
  4. Do-it-yourself projects for controlling insects.
  5. Great resources to help gardeners locate the products mentioned in the book and how to find further information about insects.

I’ll keep you posted as we go through the countdown to the publication of The Vegetable Garden Pest Handbook (*) but wanted to let you in on my news as soon as possible. I hope you’re as excited as I am!
