Birdbaths Attract Birds!

birdbaths, coneflowers

As many of you know, my husband and I are avid birdwatchers. Over the years, we’ve learned what will attract birds to our garden, and one of the best ways to accomplish this is by adding birdbaths.

Birds need to drink water and bathe — typically every day. Even though our bird feeders attract them, along with our landscape filled with trees and shrubs, we’ve found that birdbaths really draw them in.

I recently purchased a really pretty birdbath from a local greenhouse (Appleway Florist). It’s made by Studio M Outdoor and is called a “birdbath art pole.” The basin is made from stainless steel and the attractive “pole” is made from PVC. I just love the design because the flowers remind me of coneflowers! To make the birdbath really stable, Studio M includes a metal pole that augers into the soil (no tools required), then the PVC tube slips over it.

After watching so many birds flock to it (sorry for the pun), I decided to shoot a video so you can also have the enjoyment of seeing the birds as well as to check out my new birdbath. Here’s the video:

We placed the birdbath straight out from our back deck so that whenever we are eating a meal, we can watch the comings and goings. To our surprise, many birds bathe in the morning AND around dinnertime. We’ve particularly noticed this with bluebirds.

Birdbaths can be as simple or ornate as you like, but the bottom line is that they will definitely attract birds to your garden!

You can purchase these birdbaths directly from Studio M, or you can use this link to find a local retailer who carries them. And just so you know, I have not received any compensation for posting this information about the birdbath or Studio M.
