Video: Our Favorite Vegetable Varieties for Great Success

Here we are, rapidly approaching the middle of September and thinking about what to grow next year. For this week’s video, I’ve put together a list of Bill’s and my favorite vegetable varieties.

Over the years, we’ve tried a lot of different veggies. Some didn’t produce very much or live up to the hype in the seed catalogs. But many others have been fantastic and continue to consistently give us great harvests to enjoy.

If you’re also thinking about the 2027 growing season, I’m hoping this video will be helpful.

Bill and I have made a list of the tried-and-true varieties that come through for us year after year. Here’s what I included in this video:

  • The name of the vegetable crop
  • Our favorite varieties of each crop
  • Whether it’s a cool-season or warm-season vegetable
  • How many days each of the varieties takes to reach maturity
  • Our observations on the crops and specific varieties
  • And suggestions for seed sources (I’ve also put the list below the video so they’re all together for you)

Throughout the video, you’ll see photos of our favorite vegetable varieties. I have to admit that I thought I’d taken way more photos of each one than I could find! I guess I’d better remedy that next year.
