Check out our 1st harvest of summer squash! The yellow one is ‘Zephyr’ and the other 2 are ‘Cocozelle’.

How would you like to take a stroll through our vegetable garden? Well, you can RIGHT NOW! For this week’s video, I shot my July vegetable garden tour and it’s the next best thing to being here.

As I explain in the video, I always shoot a monthly tour of the garden throughout the growing season. I’ve been doing this for years and it’s a great way to experience what happens throughout a growing season. You’ll see what’s growing great and the challenges I’ve been facing (plus how I address them).

You’ll also have the opportunity to pick up recommendations for specific veggie varieties. Let’s face it, there are so many different types of tomatoes… and zucchinis… and peppers. It’s definitely hard to know which ones will grow well for you.

If you’re not familiar with our garden, my husband Bill and I live in Spokane, Washington. That’s about 300 miles east of Seattle and we get hot, dry summers here. Our garden is comprised of lots of raised beds, which are our favorite way to grow vegetables.

Here’s what you’ll discover in this video:

  • The garden layout
  • Why we’re growing succession crops and our plans for them
  • Our biggest garden challenges (hint: they have feathers!) and strategies to keep them away from crops
  • An amazing fact about how long ‘Bauer’ lettuce remains tasty… even in the heat of summer!
  • How the cauliflower plants are coming along
  • Are the ‘Belstar’ broccoli plants producing secondary heads (side shoots) yet?
  • Silvery squash leaves don’t always mean powdery mildew
  • What we’re growing in our little hoop house and how the crops are doing
  • I’ll also give an update on how our GreenStalk Vertical Gardens are coming along
  • And a whole lot more!
