Perennials – Hellebores


Want to see something odd? This is one of my Hellebores and it is in full bloom right now.

Why is that odd? Well, they normally bloom in late winter and very early spring. I’ve never seen this happen before. And even though I’m a Master Gardener, I sure don’t understand why it’s blooming now.

I love Hellebores because they are deer-resistant and incredibly hardy. They have attractive palmate leaves and thanks to the plant breeders, there are a bunch of new cultivars with cool flower colors.

I think these pale pink flowers are quite pretty, don’t you?
