Veggie update: Growing tomatoes
Hi, everyone. Sorry for the lack of posts over the past 2 weeks. My husband and I just got back from a trip to England and it’s amazing how much our veggie garden has matured in that time! I wanted to give you an update on growing tomatoes, and how each variety I’m growing is performing.
We are currently harvesting a bunch of cherry and grape tomatoes. The golden ones above are ‘Golden Grape’ and they are quite large. The seeds came from Sakata Seeds (www.sakata.com). The paste tomato in the photo is ‘Italian Pompeii’ and we harvested our very first ripe one today. We ate it for lunch was it was very meaty and delicious. Those seeds came from Renee’s Garden Seeds (www.reneesgardenseeds.com).
We are also harvesting ‘Sungold’ cherry tomatoes which are a favorite of mine and a small red cherry, and I have no idea where I got that one! I don’t even remember planting it but it’s out in the garden, producing well. The last type of tomato I’m growing is ‘Cherokee Purple’ but they haven’t started ripening yet.
Oh, and if you’re wondering about England, don’t worry — I’ll have plenty of information and photos to share with you in the coming weeks.
