August 21 column: Friends of Manito
Here is a link to my column in today’s edition of The Spokesman-Review: Cool season gives perennials a longer bloom. Today’s topic is cool perennials that you can find at the upcoming Friends of Manito plant sale.
The sale will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you are a member of The Friends of Manito, you can gain access to the sale early, at 8 a.m.
I’ve been a TFM member for years. It’s been a no-brainer for me because the proceeds from the plant sales go directly back into Manito Park. That makes it even easier for me to justify new plant purchases! Joining TFM is easy – you can even do it the day of the sale – and quite reasonable, too. They have many “friend” membership levels to accommodate everyone’s budget.
On the TFM web site, you will find a list of the plants they will have for sale so that you can start creating your wish list. I only chose my favorite 10 plants for this column, but there are so many great plants to choose from.
