Aug. 22 column: Composting
Here is a link to my column in today’s edition of The Spokesman-Review: Master Composters keep it simple. Marilyn and Chris Carothers are Master Composters who are handling the composting project for the Spokane Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They recently gave a talk to a group of Master Gardeners on how easy it is to compost.
Be sure to mark your calendar for the the Compost Fair which will be held during the Fall Leaf Festival at Finch Arboretum on Oct. 16. The hours are from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the arboretum is located at 3404 W. Woodland Blvd., Spokane.
If you watch a video on composting and participate in some hands-on activities, you will receive a free compost bin from the Spokane Regional Solid Waste System folks. This is limited to Spokane County residents only and to one compost bin per household. The Fall Leaf Festival is always a fun event and the setting is just beautiful that time of year.
