Co-written by Pat Munts and Susan Mulvihill, this book covers gardening in of Washington state, Oregon state, Northern California, and southern British Columbia. It opens with a discussion of the widely-variable geological differences that affect this unique growing region in the United States and Canada and includes details about rainfall and hardiness zones throughout the region.

This is followed by chapters about sustainable landscaping and gardening, and information on soil and compost, small-space gardening, seed-starting, and gardening in raised beds.

The meat of the book centers around 10 chapters about growing annuals, bulbs, edible crops, groundcovers, lawns and ornamental grasses, perennials, roses, shrubs, trees, and vines. Each of these chapters are packed with detailed plant profiles (nearly 300 in all!) to ensure your success in growing them. and month-by-month tasks that relate to each type of plant. At the back of the book, you’ll find resources to help you expand your gardening knowledge.
